3.2.4.7.2.2 Interface

The Interface Settings Window
Simulator: Simulates the side-scan data for training purposes.
Simple Topside Unit: Lets the user connect the software to an HDS hardware configuration.
Network: This Ethernet connection is used by the Sea Scan HDS Embedded System that receives
data and also lets the software control the SONAR.
RX Only Network: This Ethernet connection is used by the Sea Scan HDS Embedded System to
receive the data stream but does not try to connect to the SONAR.
ARC Explorer: Lets the user connect the software to an ARC Explorer hardware configuration.
This interface has access to the Advanced Settings configuration.

3.2.4.7.3 Navigation and Fathometer

3.2.4.7.3.1 NMEA Data Input

The NMEA Settings Window
The program only supports the use of a single GPS at a time. Additional
Available Ports is used to select an available GPS unit. The GPS unit will
show as a COMmunications port with the type of connection next to it. If
using the provided GPS unit, it will show up as a USB connection.
Refresh List: Refreshes the list with newly added hardware.
Add: Attempts to open the connection to the communications port.
Baud Rate: Allows the user to change the Baud Rate to whatever speed
that particular GPS unit uses. The standard baud rate for GPS units is
4800.
This Interface Settings window lets the user
change SONAR hardware configurations.
Start/Stop Button: Allows the user to Start or
Stop the interface.
Advanced Settings: Used with the ARC
Explorer Interface.
The NMEA Data Input settings page lets the
user select a GPS unit from a list of available
units and to test the connections.
