components.Theopeningcross-sectionsofthevariouscoolantductscanbeopenedorclosed
variably.Apositionsensorintheelectricalactuatoroftheheatmanagementmoduleforwardsthe
currentpositionoftherotaryvalvetotheDigitalMotorElectronics(DME).Theexactpositionofthe
rotaryvalvecanthusbedeterminedsothatitopensorclosesapreciselydefinedcross-sectionwith
respecttothevariouscoolantducts.Adjustingthecross-sectionsideallyadaptstheflowratesofthe
coolantductsconnectedtotheheatmanagementmoduletotheengineoperatingpoints.Tocorrectly
positiontherotaryvalve,theDigitalMotorElectronics(DME)requireinformationincludingthecoolant
temperaturefromthecoolanttemperaturesensor,andthematerialtemperatureofthecylinderhead
fromthecomponenttemperaturesensor.Warm-upandcoolingoftheengineandthesupplyto
ancillarycomponentscanbeimplementedasdrivenbyrequirements,thusoptimizingconsumption.
