Troubleshooting

Cleaning Impeller and Volute
1. Remove the four bolts (1) that hold the volute to the motor housing.
Then separate the volute from the motor housing.
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the motor housing bolts or screws (2).
2. Clean the impeller and the volute passage.
3. Be sure the impeller turns freely.
4. Reattach the volute to the motor housing and secure it with the four
bolts.

Accumulation of trash on float. Clean float.
Pump does not turn on
Float obstruction.
Defective switch.
Defective motor.
Float or float rod obstruction.

Probable Causes
Corrective Action
Plug in pump.
Turn on circuit breaker or replace fuse.
Check float path and provide clearance.
Replace switch.
Replace pump.
Check float and float rod path and provide clearance.
Remove pump and clean air bleed hole.
Larger pump required.
Replace switch.
Check flow indicating arrow on check valve body to ensure proper installa-
tion.
Remove check valve and inspect for proper operation.
Check rated pump performance.
Pull pump and clean.
Remove pump and clean air bleed hole.
Check rated pump performance.
Check that supply voltage matches the nameplate rating.
Pull pump and clean. Check pipe for scale or corrosion.
Install a check valve in discharge line.
Inspect check valve for correct operation.
Install larger basin.
No corrective action is required.
