Disassembling the Roller

5. Center the rear roller in the cutting unit and tighten the flange nuts at each
of the retainer assemblies.
6. Adjust the rear roller height; refer to the Cutting Unit Operator's Manual.

Note: The rear roller is a low drag roller.
1. To hold the roller shaft (5) stationary while removing the bearing lock nut (1),
install a 3/8-24 UNF 2B screw with a jam nut into the threaded end of the
roller shaft (5) and tighten the jam nut against the roller shaft. Remove the
bearing lock nuts (1).
2. Carefully inspect the seating surface and threads of the bearing lock nuts (1)
and replace them if damaged.
3. Loosely secure the roller assembly (4) in a bench vise and lightly tap on the
roller shaft (5) to remove the sealing washers (2) and bearings (3). Discard
the sealing washers (2).
4. Clean and carefully remove any corrosion from the bearing cavities of the
roller.
