2. At the main menu, select Step 2: Add and
Remove Boards.
If the system configuration utility prompts you for an
administrative password, type the password and
press <Enter>.
3. Press <Ins> to add an expansion card.
If the utility asks for the option configuration dis-
kette, insert the diskette that accompanied your
expansion card.
If the utility asks for the system configuration diskette,
insert your system configuration utility diskette.
If the utility asks for the .cfg file library diskette, insert
the diskette of .cfg files.
4. From the Select Board to Add dialog box, choose
the .cfg file that corresponds to the card you want
to add, and then press <Enter>.
If you are adding an ISA expansion card, insert your
.cfg diskette for that card.
NOTE: Alternatively, if you know the resources used
by the expansion card, you can press <F6> and
bring up a menu that lets you create the .cfg file. See
"Defining an ISA Board" later in this section.
For all ISA expansion cards, use the Step 5: View
Switch/Jumper Settings option (under the main
menu) to check the switch and jumper settings on the
new card. Configure the new card as indicated
before it is installed in your computer.
5. Select Step 4: Save Configuration to save your
changes.
6. Press <Esc>, select Step 6: Exit, and follow the
online instructions.
Remember to save a written copy of your new con-
figuration. The utility may prompt you to check the
jumper and switch settings on the new card.

Removing an Expansion Card
Use the following procedure before an ISA expansion
card is removed but after an EISA or PCI expansion card
is removed. See "When to Run the System Configuration
Utility" earlier in this chapter for more detailed
information.
1.
Start the system configuration utility as described
in "Starting the System Configuration Utility"
earlier in this chapter.
2.
At the main menu, select Step 2: Add and
Remove Boards.
If the system configuration utility prompts you for an
administrative password, type the password and
press <Enter>.
A list of expansion slots and the cards in them
appears on the screen.
3.
Highlight the name of the card you want to
remove, press <Del>, and follow the online
instructions.
4.
Select Step 4: Save Configuration to save your
changes.
5.
Press <Esc>, select Step 6: Exit, and follow the
online instructions.
Remember to save a written copy of the new
information.
If there are no resource conflicts, the configuration infor-
mation is saved to a system configuration (.sci) file when
you exit the utility. If there is a resource conflict, you
must resolve it before completing the configuration. For
more information, see "Resolving Resource Conflicts"
later in this chapter.
Repositioning an Expansion Card
Use the following procedure before an ISA expansion
card is repositioned but after an EISA or PCI expansion
card is repositioned. See "When to Run the System Con-
figuration Utility" earlier in this chapter for more detailed
information.

Start the system configuration utility as described
in "Starting the System Configuration Utility"
earlier in this chapter.
