7.1 Dismantling the starter

WARNING!
If the spring tension is activated
on the starter pulley, the spring
can fly out and cause personal
injury. Wear protective glasses.

Loosen the three screws, which hold the starter to
the crankcase, and remove the starter. See figure
1.

Pull out the cord about 30 cm and lift it into the
notch on the outside of the starter pulley. Release
the tension in the return spring by letting the starter
pulley rotate counterclockwise. See figures 2 and 3.
