TROUBLE SHOOTING

PROBLEM

Engine stop lever released
Engine will not turn
over
Incorrect oil level
Obstruction under deck
Excess oil
Engine smokes
Air cleaner cartridge oil soaked or
blocked
Fuel starvation
Engine runs then stops
Fuel cap vent blocked
Engine under load
Engine will not start
Incorrect / contaminated fuel
Spark plug lead disconnected
Engine brake not released
Faulty spark plug
Battery discharged (if fi tted)
Wiring fault
Fuel shutoff valve in the 'OFF'
position
Spark plug lead becoming
Engine runs rough
disconnected in use
Faulty spark plug
Air cleaner blocked
Incorrect / contaminated fuel
CORRECTIVE ACTION
PROBLEM
Operate engine stop lever
Engine vibrates
excessively
Check oil level
Remove obstruction
Check oil level
Service air cleaner
Uneven cut
Fill fuel tank / Turn fuel shutoff
valve to the 'ON' position
Clean fuel cap vent
Discharge chute blocks
Raise the height of cut
Drain tank and fi ll with correct
fuel
Connect spark plug lead
Mower is hard to push
Operate engine brake lever
Clean and adjust the gap or
Mower will not self
replace

Poor grass condition
Check wiring
Turn fuel shutoff valve to the
'ON' position

Wheels/roller damaged
Inspect and replace as necessary
Grass is wet
Mow dry grass
Cut height too low
Increase cut height
Grassbag full
Empty grassbag
No airfl ow through the grassbag
Clean the grassbag

Clutch out of adjustment
