This manual provides instructions to install a FlexPay
Card Reader (SCR) Kit in Encore
Intended Users
This manual is intended for Gilbarco
(ASCs).

    Before You Begin Before You Begin  Read and understand all the safety information found in MDE-3804 Encore and Eclipse Start-up/Service Manual. CAUTION A properly grounded Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) wrist strap must be worn while servicing any electronic devices or components. Failure to use electrostatic precautions may damage electronic components and void warranty.
  • Page 8 Installing FlexPay EPP Kit Remove the grade select buttons by pushing down from the top of the soda button while pulling from the bottom of the soda buttons. The grade select bases will remain in position. Note: Be careful not to dislodge the magnets. Figure 1: Removing Grade Select Buttons Grade Select Buttons Removed Isolate the CRIND two-wire cable.
  • Page 9 Installing FlexPay EPP Kit Remove the five screws on the top row that hold the lower portion of the CIM assembly in place, using a Phillips screwdriver. Figure 3: Removing Lower Portion of E-CIM Door Disconnect the softkey cable from the softkey keypad. Remove the four screws that secure the door node.
  • Page 10 Installing FlexPay EPP Kit Remove the upper CIM insert screws (1/2 inch and 1/4 inch) and washers that hold the main display lens in place, to facilitate the removal of the existing CIM assembly. Figure 5: Removing Upper CIM Insert Screws and Washers Remove the four screws (1/4 inch) that secure the monochrome display, using a 1/4-inch nut driver.
  • Page 11 Installing FlexPay EPP Kit Remove the card reader and card reader bracket, using a 1/4-inch nut driver. Figure 7: Removing Card Reader and Card Reader Bracket Card Reader Remove any other peripherals that are installed on the CIM assembly. Remove the three screws that secure the Price per Unit (PPU) board assembly, using a 1/4-inch nut driver.
  • Page 12 Installing FlexPay EPP Kit Ensure that all wires that are connected to the CIM assembly have been removed. Remove the screws that secure the CIM assembly. Note: Retain the screws for reuse. Figure 9: Removing CIM Screws Removed Remove the existing CIM assembly. Verify if the gasket on the CIM assembly to be installed is in place.
  • Page 13 Installing FlexPay EPP Kit Reinstall the three screws removed in step page 11, which secure the PPU board bracket in place. Figure 11: Installing PPU Board Bracket Reinstall the two upper CIM insert screws and washers that were removed in step page 10, to secure the main display lens.

Use M14757B001 Screws if the door has metal bosses and use Q11677-24 Screws if the door has non-metal bosses, for installation of these components.

Figure 18: Reinstalling PPU Board IMPORTANT INFORMATION Before proceeding, ensure that the five screws securing the PPU Board have been reinstalled.

  • Page 18 Installing FlexPay EPP Kit SmartPad Connections for Monochrome Units ™ To connect the SmartPad to Monochrome units, proceed as follows: Connect the FlexPay EPP cable to the FlexPay EPP and the other end to P3101 SmartPad port on the CRIND Control Node (CCN). IMPORTANT INFORMATION Connect the FlexPay EPP cable to P3102 on the CCN for side A, and P3101 on the CCN for side B of the unit.

  • Page 24 Installing FlexPay EPP Kit Upgrading Flash Card on Color Screen CRIND CPU Assembly To upgrade the flash card on the color screen CRIND CPU assembly, proceed as follows: Release the color screen CRIND CPU assembly from the standoffs. Figure 28: CPU Board Lower the CPU board to gain access to the rear portion that contains the flash card.

  • Page 26 Installing FlexPay EPP Kit Check if any cables were disconnected from the color screen CRIND CPU assembly when installing the flash card. Secure/reconnect any loose/disconnected cables. For more information on how to reload and configure the personality screens, refer to MDE-4769 Personality Screen Change for Color Screen Update and/or Upload Instructions.

    Installing SCR Kit Installing SCR Kit To install the SCR Kit, proceed as follows: Disconnect the ground cable and data cable from the existing (standard) card reader. Remove the four screws that secure the card reader assembly to the dispenser, using a 1/4-inch nut driver.
  • Page 29 Installing SCR Kit Install the new non-adhesive gasket over the front of the card reader and ensure that the gasket is seated on the flange and covers the dismount buttons as shown in Figure Note: The non-adhesive gasket is laid over the card reader snout first, then the card reader is inserted into the card reader opening on the door.
  • Page 30 Installing SCR Kit Install the card reader assembly on the door of the dispenser, using the four screws that were removed in step page Connect the ground cable to the jack on top of the card reader. Secure the ring terminal on the stud where the ground cable of the previous card reader was installed.
