Selecting the Measurements

The types of measurements available depend on the operating band (terrestrial or
satellite) and the type of signals (analogue or digital).
Terrestrial band - Analogue channels:
Level
Video / Audio
C/N
FM Deviation
Terrestrial band - Digital channels (DVB-C, ISDB-T/T
Channel power

Level measurement of the currently tuned carrier.
Video carrier to audio carrier ratio.
Ratio between the modulated signal level and the equivalent
noise power for a same bandwidth. (according to TV standard)
Measure the frequency peak deviation for any modulated
analogue carrier in FM.
Channel power is measured assuming that power spectral
density is uniform throughout channel bandwidth.
To measure it correctly it is indispensable to define the
Channel BW.
Out-channel measurement. Noise level is measured at f noise =
f tuning ± ½*Channel BW. To measure it correctly digital channel
must be tuned at its central frequency.
Modulation error ratio measurement. In a case of ISDB-T/T
signal, it also identifies the layer where the measurement is done
(between brackets).
BER measurement (Bit error rate) for the digital signal before
error correction (BER before FEC). In a case of ISDB-T/T
signal, it also identifies the layer where the measurement is done
(between brackets).
BER (Bit error rate) measurement for the digital signal after the
error correction (BER after Viterbi). In a case of ISDB-T/T
signal, it also identifies the layer where the measurement is done
(between brackets).
