If the patient has an ID card, the monitor uses the inflation setting on the card each time it takes a
blood pressure. Once the monitor is powered down the default setting of 175 mmHg is re-established.
Cuff placement instructions
Teach the patient how to properly position and tighten the cuff. The following instructions appear in the
Genesis™ DM Clinician Guide.
1.
Hold the cuff so that the artery marker (white arrow) points away from you.
2.
With our palm facing upwards, slip your hand through the cuff.
3.
Position the cuff so that the artery marker arrows point to your ring finger and slide the cuff up
your arm over your elbow. There should be about a two finger space between the crease in your
elbow and the cuff.
4.
Grasp the tab and pull down to tighten the cuff. Do not make the cuff too tight. You should be able
to slide your finger between your cuff and your arm.
5.
Wrap the cuff end under and around your arm and fasten it to the Velcro.
