Boom Reaction Time The sprayer hydraulics and boom suspension systems are the governing components to boom reaction time. The maximum hydraulic speed of the boom is determined by HARDI and is not diminished by the addition of the AutoSlant hydraulic system.
3 - Description Soil, Crop and Hybrid Mode Height sensors use “smart sensor” technology, which take measurements from both the top of the crop canopy and from the soil surface. This allows the user to select between three modes: Mode Height Measure Soil The target height is measured from the soil to the sprayer nozzle.
4 - System Setup Setup General Info Test tuning of the functionality and software for the sprayer, prior to using the AutoSlant. There are two methods to setup the AutoSlant system. The recommended way is to use the automatic system setup - see “Automatic System Setup” on page 27.

Depending on the input, this may cause a complete override or a partial override of AutoSlant automatic control. Each of the Remote Switches AutoSlant functions requires a manual override. For HARDI sprayers the Remote Switches need to be enabled. Disable main lift Return to height Disable Main Lift...
4 - System Setup While in manual mode, if the system voltage (+12 VDC) is momentarily applied to the remote auto line, the system will switch to automatic mode. While in automatic mode, each time the system voltage is momentarily applied to the remote auto line, the system will change between automatic mode and the feature selected.
4 - System Setup Features High Oil Temp Alarm Toggle The High Oil Temperature Alarm is normally defaulted to ON. Selecting this option will toggle between enabling and disabling the alarm. When enabled, an error message will appear if the AutoSlant valve block reaches a temperature of 95°C. It will appear once and will not repeat until power has been cycled.
5 - Operation Typical Operation Run Screen Once the system is correctly configured, it is very simple to use. After confirming the legal disclaimer, the run screen will appear. For a universal terminal like e.g. HC 8700/9700, select the UC7 icon from the display’s start up screen. The majority of functional settings and controls can be accessed on the main screen.
Do not do this if the Minimum Boom Height is already set to fit 50 cm your actual Hardi spray boom in the options menu for “Minimum Boom Height” on page 45. When in Crop/Hybrid mode the warning message appears as UC7 WARNING shown.
5 - Operation Settings General Info The AutoSlant settings are displayed on the main run screen. To change these settings: 1. Go to the settings screen by pressing the wrench button. 2. The Settings menus are described in “Settings Menu” on page 41.
5 - Operation Sprayer Switches General Info When a sprayer switch is pressed, an arrow will be displayed on the screen showing which function is being activated. For example, if the left up switch is pressed then an arrow will be shown above the left boom pointing up. Slant Switches While in automatic, if either left or right slant switches are pressed, the boom will go into manual mode.
• Remove the height sensors from the sprayer and store inside. Record the sensor serial numbers in “Sensor Setup” on page 52 to ensure each height sensor is returned to its original location at the start of the next season. • If necessary, contact your HARDI dealer to have the sensors recalibrated or repaired.
6 - Maintenance Cleaning Ultrasonic Height Sensors Fitted into the bottom of the sensor is a foam disc shield that protects the transducer mesh from excessive dirt. Over time it can become clogged with dust and dirt. ÷ NOTE! Bring extra clean protective foam discs in the tractor cabin while spraying, for easy replacement in the field if a foam disc gets dirty.
6 - Maintenance Lubrication of the Sprayer As the AutoSlant system continuously adjusts the sprayer boom, extra attention needs to be paid for the boom to be well lubricated. Shown below are the specific sprayer boom parts with respective lubrication points that need extra attention. ÷...
7 - Fault Finding Typical Failures General Operation Boom does not appear to be level after system setup • The sensitivity setting may be too low. Check the sensor height readings from the run screen, if it differs from the target height then try turning up the sensitivity.
7 - Fault Finding Height Control Module The LED’s on the Height Control Module (HCM1) lit or flashes to indicate their status. Refer to the following table for diagnostic. LED State Description Solid Green OK - Module is powered up. Flashing Green Low supply voltage.
• Using the AutoSlant system at higher sensitivities may create a greater demand on the sprayer’s hydraulics. Try lowering the sensitivity. • Plumbing single acting systems as double acting may reduce the heating. Contact a Hardi Service Centre for more information.
