Handling the high-voltage
battery
Care instructions
Volkswagen recommends observing the fol-
lowing care instructions:
— Do not fully charge the high-voltage bat-
tery in everyday operation. Set an upper
battery charge limit of 80% in the charging
settings.
— Avoid complete discharge of the high-
voltage battery if possible, e.g. in the case
of long standing times with a low charge
level. The charge level should not fall be-
low 20% for extended periods →
— If the high-voltage battery has been fully
charged, drive off immediately if possible.
— Avoid regular fast charging with direct
current (DC) due to the high charging cur-
rents.
NOTICE
The high-voltage battery must not be used as
a stationary power source. Otherwise irrever-
sible damage can be caused to the high-volt-
age battery.
Vehicle standing times
— In frost conditions, do not park the vehicle
for several hours with a charge level below
40% →
.
— In the case of standing times of longer
than 12 hours, park the vehicle with
a charge level of at least 30% and no more
than 80% →
, e.g. at the airport before
a journey.
— Do not expose the vehicle to outside tem-
peratures below - 30°C or above 60°C for
longer than 24 hours.
— Use the stationary air conditioning in good
time to improve comfort and performance
(depending on vehicle equipment), partic-
ularly at temperatures below -15°C
→ page 127.

High-voltage battery
NOTICE
If the vehicle is parked for an extended period
with discharged high-voltage battery, it is
possible that the high-voltage battery will no
longer be charged or the vehicle will no lon-
ger start. In the long term, irreversible dam-
age can be caused to the high-voltage bat-
tery.
·
Charge the high-voltage battery at regular
intervals.
The high-voltage battery provides less
power at very low outside tempera-
tures. If the charge level is also low, power
may be significantly restricted for a short
time after driving off → page 136.
