2. Using the trackwheel, scroll through the icons to select a
function. The name of each function will appear underneath
the row of icons.
3. When you've scrolled to the desired function, click the
trackwheel to open that function's screen.
Tip You can also select a function by pressing the underlined
character in the function's name. For example, press M for
Messages.

Installing the battery

Depending on usage, the handheld can operate for weeks using the
single AA alkaline battery that is included in your package. The
handheld will work best if you use a standard, high quality alkaline
battery. We recommend against using Lithium AA batteries or
ULTRA batteries: you will get the same amount of battery life from
an alkaline because the BlackBerry handheld is a "low drain"
device.
