Chapter 1: Getting started
Warning: If you type your password incorrectly five times, you are
prompted to type blackberry before you can continue. For any
subsequent password attempts, the characters that you type are
displayed in the Enter Password dialog box.
If you type your password incorrectly eight times, you are prompted to
type blackberry again before you can continue.
If you type your password incorrectly ten times, all information is
erased from your handheld for security reasons. To operate your
handheld again, connect your handheld to your computer while the
desktop software is running, and open the Application Loader tool.
Before you reload applications onto your handheld, in the Handheld
Data Preservation window, select the Erase all application data check
box. Refer to the Application Loader Online Help for more information
on the loading process.

To change your password

Changing your password provides greater security.
1. On the Home screen, click the Options icon. The Device
Options screen appears.
2. Click Security. A dialog box prompts you to type your
password.
3. Type your password. Click the trackwheel. The Security screen
appears.
4. Click the trackwheel to view the menu. Click Change Password.
A dialog box appears.
