Chapter 2: Getting to know your handheld
Cradle/Charger
The cradle provides a link between your handheld and your
computer, so that you can use the desktop software that is provided
with your package. The serial port on the bottom of the handheld
fits into the prongs of the cradle. You must connect the cradle to
your computer to use the desktop software.
The palm-sized handheld contains an internal lithium
battery. Exact battery life depends on factors such as
usage and the quality of wireless coverage. The cradle is
used to recharge the handheld battery.
If you only want to charge your handheld and do not
want to use the desktop software, you do not need to
connect the cradle to your computer.

Configuring handheld options

After you are familiar with your handheld, you should configure
some of its basic options.
To select a notification profile
You can select how your handheld notifies you of messages,
appointments, tasks, pages, and alarms.
1. On the Home screen, click the Profiles icon. The Profiles screen
appears.
2. Select the profile that you want to enable. Click the trackwheel
to view the menu. Click Enable. The word (On) appears beside
your selection.
