Potentiometer Repair
Potentiometer Repair
Standard Models
Refer to the Parts List - Standard Models,
page 13.
Removal:
1.
Perform Warnings, page 2.
2.
Turn power switch (36) to OFF and
unplug the power cord to disconnect
power.
3.
Loosen two set screws and remove the
knob (37).
4.
Remove eight screws (16) and the top
cover (31).
NOTE: Be cautious not to damage the wires
that connect to the cover.
5.
Remove mounting nut and washer of
potentiometer (45) from the top cover
(31).
6.
Disconnect potentiometer (45) from the
control board (20).
Installation:
1.
Connect new potentiometer (45) to the
control board (20). Refer to Wiring
Diagrams (Standard), page 18.
2.
Remove the mounting nut from the
potentiometer (leave washer in place)*
and slide through opening in the top cover
(31). For proper alignment, the locating
tab on the potentiometer (45) should be
inserted into the hole in the top cover (31).
Refer to Fig. 2.
*Remove and discard plain washer if unit has
Isolator (17X783).
3.
Install the mounting nut. Torque to 10-15
in-lb (1.1 - 1.7 N•m).
4.
Install top cover (31) using eight screws
(16). Torque to 20-25 in-lbs (2.5 - 3.0
N•m).

5.
Rotate the shaft of the potentiometer
(45) clockwise as far as it can go. Slide
the knob (37) over the shaft and align the
pointer to the maximum setting on the
control label (35). While applying a light
pressure to the knob (37), tighten the two
set screws to 3-5 in-lb (0.3 - 0.6 N•m).
