MAINTENANCE ON URGENT FAULTS OF THE DRILLING MACHINE
4.1 General information
Classification of urgent faults
4.1.1
Urgent faults entail immediate machine stop, and can be characterised as
follows:
• a malfunction generated by a fault does not allow machine activity;
• continuing the activity leads to knock-on damage to other parts of the
machine;
• any countermeasures cannot be managed safely by the operator;
• the fault lowers the level of safety of the machine;
• the malfunction leads to leakage of polluting fluid.
These faults are indicated as B1 in table 1.1.4.1, the following list is not
exhaustive.
4.2 Replacement of the telescopic kelly bar.
Disassembly of the Kelly bar following damage (or to change the type).
4.2.1
To replace the telescopic kelly bar one must prepare a hole (preferably
coated) in the ground, at least 0.5 [m] deep, which must be closed
appropriately when it is not used.
Proceed as follows:
• position the machine near the hole;
• wear work gloves and a protective helmet;
• loosen the nuts of the 4 bolts that support the drive device;
• remove the Kelly drive 1
about 27 [kg] ;
• position the machine with the mast in the vertical position at maximum
height and aligned with the hole in the ground;
• disengage the descent limit switch of the main winch;
• remove the cover and lower the kelly bar all the way to the bottom;
