Troubleshooting

With TSI firmware version <A3.0:
If the Tank Side Indicator detects a failure in the communication with the level gauge, one of the following error
messages appears on the display:

ERROR TYPE 01
ERROR TYPE 02
ERROR TYPE 03
ERROR TYPE 04
ERROR TYPE 05
ERROR TYPE 07
ERROR TYPE 08
ERROR TYPE 09
ERROR TYPE 10
ERROR TYPE 11
If one of these error messages appear, then the following actions can be taken to solve the problem:
• Check cabling between Tank Side Indicator and level gauge
• Reset level gauge (by means of RS command)
• Either replace TSI or XPU-2/i.s. board (with servo gauges) or ICU_IS2 board (with 970/971/973
SmartRadar)
With TSI firmware version A3.0 and higher:
The following internal 977 Tank Side Indicator errors are detected and displayed:
Display
INTERNAL RAM DEFECT *)
CODE CORRUPT! *)
STACK CORRUPT!
LCD DD RAM DEFECT *)
INIT LCD FAILED *)
*) Providing the kind of error allows writing the message to the display.
If the Tank Side Indicator detects a failure in the communication with the level gauge, one of the following error
messages appears on the display:

COMM TIMEOUT ERR *)
UNSUPPORTED FORMAT
INVALID RESPONSE LENGTH *)
Meaning of error code
STX not received
ETX not received
Parity error in received data for 01 item
Parity error in received data for 02 item
Preambles bytes (FF ) not received

Received data does not contain correct item code (i.e. 01 or 02)
BCC error in received data for 01 item
BCC error in received data for 02 item
Item 1A data not being received from gauge
Item 2A data not being received from gauge
Meaning of error and how to solve
Internal RAM defect; replace PCB assembly
EPROM code corrupted; replace EPROM
Switch off and on the supply of the 977 TSI (or from related level gauge); if
error still occurs, replace PCB assembly
Replace LCD module
Replace LCD module
Meaning of error
Communication timeout expired (5 or 15 sec.)
Selected display format does not exist in the level gauge
The message of the level gauge does not correspond to the expected
length
