Setting Up the Machine for Voice Recognition
• If the word you say is not recognized (if it
is not pronounced clearly or the specified
command does not execute), try saying
the word again following the guidelines
below.
- Say your command clearly and at a
distance of no more than 5 7/8" (15 cm)
from the microphone. Speak into the
microphone from as short a distance as
possible if there is background noise.
- Only certain phrases can be recognized.
For a list of the phrases that can be
recognized, see "List of Recognizable
Phrases," on p. 5-12.
- Voice commands cannot be recognized
while the Voice Command List is
displayed. Close the Voice Command List
before saying your command. (See "Using
the Voice Command List," on p. 1-52.)
- The voice unit may have difficulty
recognizing your voice commands,
depending on your surroundings.
- Even if you say a recognizable word, it
may not be recognized if you say filler
words before or after the command, such
as "um ...," or "please."
- Do not break up words into syllables
when saying them.
