Preventive Maintenance
Use the following daily inspection table to assure quiet, smooth, and dependable operation.
Have your authorized dealer inspect your stretcher every six months.

Operational Test
Condition of upholstery should be maintained with a clean, damp cloth or sponge . A mild soap and water
solution should be used for hard-to-clean areas and stained areas . If disinfectant cleaners are used, do not
exceed the manufacturers' recommended dilution rate or life expectancy of upholstery may be shortened .
Visually check condition of stretcher for obvious damage such as: Cracks in components, missing
components, dents in components, torn upholstery, leaking fluids, or any other visible damage which would
cause the stretcher to be unsafe for usage . Repair stretcher before using .
All painted metal surfaces should be maintained by wiping clean with a soft, damp cloth .
All unpainted metal surfaces should be maintained by wiping clean with a soft, damp cloth . Check all metal
surfaces for dents or damage that could result in sharp edges . Replace damaged metal .
Check stretcher for missing or loose fasteners/ hardware . Replace any missing hardware and tighten any loose
hardware as necessary using removable threadlocking adhesive if applicable .
All moving parts should be lubricated with white lithium grease or petroleum jelly, except linkages . All linkages
should be lubricated with Teflon or Silicone based lubricant .
Check for missing or illegible decals, Replace decals as necessary .
Check for proper side rail operation, making sure that side rails release easily and latch easily and securely .
Adjust side rails if necessary . Adjust or repair latching mechanism, if necessary .
Lubricate side rail rollers with Teflon or Silicone based lubricant . Check that rollers move freely during operation
of side rails . Repair or replace rollers, if necessary . If bolts/ nuts are loose, remove bolts/ nuts, apply removable
threadlocker and re-install bolts/ nuts .
Lubricate side rail latch mechanism with white lithium grease or Teflon grease . Check that latch mechanism
releases easily and latches easily and securely . Adjust or repair latch mechanism if necessary .
Check caster screws for tightness . Remove any loose screws, apply removable threadlocker adhesive, and re-
install screws and lockwashers .
Check caster pedals for proper operation . Make sure all pedals work . If not, replace casters .
Lubricate moving parts of Fowler with Teflon or Silicone based lubricant . Check Fowler for proper operation,
alignment, and engagement . Make sure Fowler releases and holds .
Lubricate moving parts of Trendelenburg with Teflon or Silicone based lubricant . Check Trendelenburg for proper
operation, alignment, and engagement . Make sure Trendelenburg releases and holds properly .
Perform an Operational Test to determine if the stretcher is operating within its specifications (refer to Section
2 .1) . Replace any malfunctioning components .
