9 TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
Symptoms
Pump will not start.
Control module failure
light illuminated.
Pump will not start.
The pump does not stop.
Pump surges.
Pump hunting
(starting and stopping).
9.11 Dry Run Protection:
This pump is fitted with a safety control circuit, which will detect the
following fault condition:

Should the pump run out of water it will stop as part of a protective logic
sequence.
The fault should be rectified before re-starting the pump by pressing the
reset button on the control module. Check that there is sufficient water
supply to the tank and also ensure that all terminal fitting outlets are closed.
9.12 Environment Protection: Your appliance contains valuable materials which
can be recovered or recycled.
At the end of the products' useful life, please leave it at an appropriate local
civic waste collection point.
Probable Cause
Water supply low.
Electrical supply.
Static outlet head is greater than
permitted.
Integral motor thermotrip
activated.
Pump jammed.
Supply failure.
Float switch not positioned and
secured correctly.
System leaks.
Flow switch jammed.
Restart button is jammed.
Insufficient water supply to pump.
Air is trapped in system.
Blockage/restriction in pipework.
Failing non-return valve in control
module.
Dry running caused by water starvation to the pump.
Recommended Action
Check water level in the supply tank and all stopcocks are
open.
Reset the control module by depressing the restart button.
Check all electrical switches are on.
Is the correct fuse fitted?
Is the circuit breaker set?
Outlet head is greater than 12 m, contact Stuart Turner.
Wait for thermotrip to cool and auto-reset.
Investigate cause of problem.
Contact Stuart Turner.
Restore voltage to pump.
Ensure float switch is located correctly, pointing upwards
and secured by a cable tie as per Fig. 12.
Check system for leaks by closing isolating valve on pump
outlet while pump is running. If pump stops it confirms
there is a condition in the system calling for the pump to
run. Re-open outlet isolating valve and investigate cause
for demand and rectify.
Check float is not stuck. If the float cannot be reseated,
contact Stuart Turner.
Press button repeatedly to free.
Turn power off and on to reset control unit.
Check water level in supply tank and all stopcocks are
open.
Purge the system of air.
Remove restriction.
Investigate and correct problem or replace the unit.
Check system for leaks.
