• Insert the mains plug of the exhaust unit into the mains socket of the
exhaust system safety switch.
• Switch on your exhaust unit, and open the window or door at which you
have mounted the magnetic switch set.
The exhaust unit must start up when the window or door has been opened.
The red display on the front side of the exhaust system safety switch must
light up.
• Close the window or the door.
The exhaust unit must switch off.
Connecting other consumers
• Mount the magnetic switch set as described in the chapter on installation.
• Before commissioning, check that the voltage specified on the nameplate
is the same as the mains voltage.
• Insert the plug component of the exhaust system safety switch into a
socket with earthing contact which has been installed in conformance with
statutory regulations.
• Insert the mains plug of the consumer into the mains socket of the exhaust
system safety switch.
• Switch on the consumer, and open the window or door at which you have
mounted the magnetic switch set.
The consumer must start up when the window or door has been opened.
The red display on the front side of the exhaust system safety switch must
light up.
• Close the window or the door.
The consumer must switch off.
Operating the exhaust unit
• Close the window or door before switching on the exhaust unit. The red dis-
play on the front side of the exhaust system safety switch lights up.
• Switch on your exhaust unit at the level required.
• After use, switch the exhaust unit off again.
• Close the window or the door if necessary.
If you forget to open the window before switching on the exhaust unit, the
exhaust system safety switch stops the exhaust unit from switching on and
therefore prevents low pressure in the room. It is normal for the exhaust system
safety switch to heat up slightly during operation.

If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, then
disconnect the appliance immediately and secure it against inadvertent ope-
ration. Disconnect the mains plug from the socket.
Reasons to assume that the device is no longer safe to operate include the
following:
• there is visible damage to the device or to the connections
• the device no longer functions
• the device has been stored or transported under unfavourable conditions
Always observe the following safety instructions before cleaning or servicing
the product:
Live components may be exposed if the covers are opened or parts of the
housing are removed. Prior to commencing maintenance or repair works, the
device must be disconnected from all power supplies Capacitors in the devi-
ce might still be charged even if the device has been disconnected from all
power supplies. Repair work may always be carried out by specialists familiar
with the hazards involved and with the relevant regulations.
In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the relevant
professional insurance association for electrical systems and operating mate-
rials are to be observed.
