Tools
The following tools are required to upgrade the LCD ROM:
•
sorting header (supplied),
•
floppy with LCD ROM upgrade image,
•
null modem cable,
•
PC with an available serial port, and
•
terminal emulation software.
Flashing the LCD ROM
Use the following procedure to flash the LCD ROM.
Step
1
Turn off the Megaplex machine

Take off the top cover of the Megaplex chassis.

Take off the cable from the 50-pin connector, P2.
4
Put the "sorting header" on the 5-pin connector, J2.
When you place the sorting header on the connector, the five holes on the
back of the sorting header face the 50-pin connector, P2.

Connect a null modem cable to the serial connector.

Boot the PC in DOS or Windows.

Connect the other end of the null-modem cable to the serial connector of a
PC.

Run your terminal software.

Turn on the Megaplex machine.

Download the firmware image through the terminal software.
Turn off the Megaplex machine.

Disconnect the null-modem cable and the sorting header.

Reconnect the cable to the 50-pin connector, P2.
13
Turn on the Megaplex. The LCD is ready.
