5.6 Replacing a UBFA

The UBFA is the fan module in the BBU. The UBFA and the air inlet box in the BBU form a
ventilation loop, implementing forced heat dissipation for the BBU. During the replacement of
the UBFA, the heat generated by the BBU cannot be properly ventilated and, with temperature
increase, an overtemperature alarm is reported. The services, however, are not affected.

the new UTRP becomes the standby UTRP. Powering off the NodeB is not required during
replacement. Replacing the standby UTRP does not disrupt the services. When replacing
the board, do not power off the NodeB. You only need to remove the faulty board, and then
insert a new board into the original slot.
CAUTION
Attach temporary labels to the cables on the faulty UTRP, and then disconnect the cables.
Loosen the screws on the panel of the faulty UTRP.
Turn the ejector lever outwards, and then pull the faulty UTRP out of the slot.
Place the faulty UTRP in an ESD bag.
Insert a new UTRP into the slot, and then slide the board until it is in position.
Turn the ejector levers inwards, and then tighten the screws on the panel of the new UTRP.
Connect the cables to the ports on the panel of the new UTRP according to the recorded
cable connections.
When the board is operational, the RUN LED blinks at 0.5 Hz, and the AL LED is OFF.
If the board works in active mode, the ACT LED is ON. If the board does not work or
works in standby mode, the ACT LED is OFF.
NOTE
For details on the LED of the UTRP, see the UTRP.
The quantity of faulty UBFAs is checked, and new modules are ready.
