Circular letter For internal use only Folder no.: 255 Dräger Bodyguard II and Sentinel II Bodyguard II & Sentinel II Battery Status Bodyguard II & Sentinel II Battery Status As a result of a recent notification from the manufacturer of our currently approved Ultralife battery, stating that the design has been altered; this battery now no longer conforms to the certification required. Dräger have one new replacement battery approved however, we are also in the process of attaining approval for a new Sentinel II BG4 battery. The recently approved battery, Duracell Ultra Power must be used for all Bodyguard II units including those for BG4, which will allow all remaining Dräger stock of the existing Ultralife battery to be allocated only for use with Sentinel II for BG4. The Ultralife battery is currently the only Dräger supplied 9V battery with MSHA approval. Until additional MSHA approval is complete, the new Duracell Ultra Power battery cannot be used with Sentinel II BG4. Timelines for approval of the new battery is currently anticipated to be mid 2014 although the approval house have advised this is subject to change due to workload, R&D will continue to liaise closely with them in order to expedite this. Rev. 3 April 2005 For Your Safety For correct and effective use of the apparatus and to avoid hazards, it is essential to read the following recommendations and to act accordingly. Strictly follow the instructions for use Any use of the apparatus requires full understanding and strict observation of these instructions.
Rev. 3 April 2005 Testing Before starting up for the first time and whenever the apparatus has been serviced. Testing the BG 4 with built-in CO2 absorber: The function test can be carried out four times during the one-year storage period. The tests should not take longer than 15 minutes each.
Rev. 3 April 2005 Test Setup Checking the Response Threshold of the Low-pressure Warning 1 Remove sealing cap and plug coupling into Female test adapter of RZ50e. 2 Ensure bulb restrictor is closed (clockwise). 3 Pump slowly until alarm activates. 4 Watch the pressure gauge: NOTE Gauge is sensitive and will move very quickly.

Rev. 3 April 2005 Low Pressure Positive Pressure Leaks Test 1.Leave connections as in previous test. 2. Open tube clamp, slowly drain pressure using flow restrictor on squeeze bulb until gauge indicates between 10mbar and 7 mbar. Clamp off tubing. 3.Ensure pressure does not drop more than 1 mbar in 1 minute.

Rev. 3 April 2005 Checking the Low-pressure Warning • Close tube clamp. • Close cylinder valve. 1 Watch the display unit. The warning should be generated at approximately 700 psi. Alarm sounds intermittently, red indicator flashes. 2 Unplug coupling from test unit and replace sealing cap on plug-in coupling.
