60-Second Basal Thermometer
INDICATIONS FOR USE:
This clinical digital thermometer is a device intended for measuring, and aiding in the
monitoring and tracking of basal body temperature (BBT) as an aid in ovulation prediction
for conception. Tracking your BBT helps predict ovulation or fertility timing by predicting
maximum and minim fertile days to help increase the chances of conception or pregnancy.
This thermometer IS intended to be used:
• For measuring, and aiding in the monitoring and tracking of basal body temperature
(BBT) as an aid in ovulation prediction for conception.
• Within a home healthcare environment
• Oral & Vaginal
• With an optional Probe Cover (probe cover not mandatory)
This thermometer IS NOT intended for use with:
• Contraception
PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USE
• Do not use this device if you think it is damaged or anything appears unusual
• To avoid possible injury, do not run or walk while using this device.
• Ensure that children are supervised around this medical device. Keep batteries away
from children; harmful if swallowed.
• Do not dispose of the battery or device in fire; the battery may explode. Batteries and
electronic instruments must be disposed of in accordance with the locally applicable
regulations as domestic waste.
• Do not use a metal tool to replace the battery; doing so may short circuit the terminals.
• Do not attempt to recharge the battery as they are not rechargeable.
• Only open the thermometer battery cover to replace the battery (when applicable); do
not open/modify this device; inaccuracy and/or harmful injury may result.
• Performance of this thermometer may be degraded if used outside of its specified operation
temperature and humidity rating, or if stored outside of its specified storage temperature
and humidity rating (avoid storage in direct sunlight), the device is exposed to me-
chanical shock, the patient's temperature is lower than that of the ambient, the pa-
tient's temperature is outside the specified patient range, the tip is dirty or damaged
(ensure the tip is clean before using), the optional probe cover is dirty or a probe cover
not intended for use with this device is used.
• Do not expose the thermometer to extreme temperature ,humidity,shock,and/or dust.
• Any probe covers that may be included in this device package are for single use only.
• This device contains sensitive electronics components. Avoid strong electrical or
electromagnetic fields in the direct vicinity of the device (e.g., mobile telephones,
microwave ovens). These can lead to temporary impairment of the measuring accuracy.
Move the device to another location if interference is determined and maintain a
minimum distance of 11 ft from such devices when using this unit.
• It is recommended that this digital thermometer be checked for calibration every 2 years
WHAT IS A BASAL TEMPERATURE?
A basal temperature is the normal body temperature of a healthy person immediately
upon awakening after a restful nights sleep. More precisely, it is the body temperature
measured under so-called basal conditions (12 hours after eating, after a restful
sleep, no exercise, no emotional excitement, normal room temperature).
For optimum accuracy, your basal temperature should be taken at the same time
every morning upon waking. Changes in basal temperature are related to
changes in the female reproductive cycle. By taking your basal temperature
daily and charting it, you can notice slight changes and patterns. These charts
of your basal temperature, in addition to other information, can help you under-
stand your menstrual cycle and ovulation. Recording and interpreting basal
temperature changes is called the The Basal Temperature Method. This
method can be used to help in family planning. Charting of temperature and
prediction of ovulation can be used to time sexual intercourse during fertile
days to aid in increasing the likelihood of pregnancy.
HOW TO TAKE A TEMPERATURE:
This thermometer can be used with or without a
probe cover. To use a cover, slide onto sensor tip
until fully engaged. If thermometer has been in a
cold environment, allow it to warm up to room
temperature for about 15 minutes before use.
Avoid storing at temperatures above 140˚ F (60˚ C).
To turn the unit on, press the power button. Proper functioning of the thermometer
is tested automatically each time it is turned on. The display should read "188.88
˚E" to confirm normal function. An "Err" message indicates unit is not working
properly. The display will then show "Lo" and a flashing "F" or "C" indicating that
thermometer is ready for use.

ORAL USE:
• Do not drink hot or cold liquids or exercise before use.
• Place sensor tip under tongue as shown in Figure A.
• Accurate temperature reading will take approximately
60 seconds. An open mouth or improper placement
could make reading take longer.
VAGINAL USE:
Please seek guidance from your health care profes-
sional. Taking vaginal temperatures is beyond the scope of
these instructions.

READING THE TEMPERATURE:
Hormonal changes associated with ovulation produce a slight rise in a woman's
basal body temperature. A change of approximately 0.5°F (0.3°C) occurs in
approximately the last two weeks of the cycle around the time of ovulation. This
temperature shift, as well as other recognizable signs such as changes in cervical
mucus, can assist in determining the fertile days prior to ovulation.
CHANGING FROM °F TO °C:
With the thermometer turned off, press and hold the power button approximately
2 seconds until °F or °C changes on the display. The thermometer will briefly
display a self test temperature. It will then be set to your selection, ready for use.
HOW TO CLEAN:
Clean thermometer after every use:
1. Clean sensor tip with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Wipe dry with sterile cotton ball.
HOW TO CHANGE BATTERY:
Replace battery when " " appears on display.
1. Remove the battery cover by pulling away from the base.
2. Using a toothpick (or other non-metal object) remove the old battery.
3. Insert new 1.5 V button cell, LR41 or equivalent, battery with the contact
down (+ symbol facing toward you).
4. Replace battery cover.
