1. Safety Instructions

The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage/injury caused by unauthorized modifi-
cations made to the device or resulting from using the device for purposes other than those
described in the operating instructions.
These operating instructions and the warnings that they contain must be read carefully and
must be on view in the immediate vicinity of the soldering device. Non-observance of the
warning instructions may result in accidents, injuries, or damage to health.
The WELLER W-series soldering irons comply with the EC Declaration of Conformity in
accordance with the basic safety requirements prescribed by the directives 89/336/EEC
and 73/23/EEC.

Warning Notes

1. The mains cable is only permitted to be plugged into mains sockets or adapters
approved for the purpose.
2. Keep your workplace tidy.
Always return the soldering equipment to its original holder, when it is not needed. Do not
place any combustible objects in the vicinity of the hot soldering equipment.
3. Please observe environmental influences.
Do not use the soldering equipment in moist or wet surroundings.
4. Protect yourself against electric shock.
Prevent body contact to grounded parts, such as tubes, radiators, stoves and refrigerators.
5. Keep away from children.
Do not permit any other person to touch the tool or the cable. Keep other persons away from
your workplace.
6.Keep the soldering equipment in a safe place.
Soldering equipment, which is not required at the moment, should be kept in a dry, high
position or closed location out of the reach of children.
7. Do not overload your soldering equipment.
Operate the soldering equipment only at the voltage and pressure, respectively pressure
range mentioned.
8. Use the correct soldering equipment.

Do not use to low-capacity soldering equipment for your work. Do not use the soldering
equipment for purposes it is not intended for.
9. Wear suitable working clothes.
Danger of burn by liquid solder. Wear adequate protective clothing to protect yourself
against burns.
10. Protect your eyes.
Wear protective goggles. Observe especially the warning notes of the adhesives' manufac-
turer, when adhesives are processed. Protect yourself against tin splashes. Danger of burn
by liquid solder.
11. Use a solder smoke suction device.
If facilities for the operation of a solder smoke suction device are available, please check
yourself that they have been connected and are operated correctly.
12. Do not use the cable for purposes it is not intended for.
Never carry the soldering equipment on its cable. Do not use the cable to pull the plug out
of the wall outlet. Protect the cable against heat, oil, and sharp edges.
13. Secure the workpiece.
Use a clamping device to secure the workpiece. With this device the workpiece is held
down more safely than with the hand, and moreover you have both hands free to operate
the soldering equipment.
14. Avoid unnatural posture.
Arrange your workplace in a correct ergonomic way. Avoid uncomfortable posture when
working. Always use appropriate soldering equipment.
15. Treat your soldering equipment with care.
Keep the soldering equipment clean in order to be able to work better and more safely.
Observe the maintenance instructions and the notes on the change of the soldering tip.
Check all cables and hoses connected in regular intervals. Repairs my be carried out by an
authorised specialist only. Use genuine Weller spare parts only.
16. Remove the plug from the wall outlet before opening the housing.
