Connecting to ISDN

2.4 First Installation Steps

• Turn off your computer and unplug the power cable.
• Loosen the screws of the computer housing and open the
computer.
• Select a free PCI slot and remove the protective plate on top
end. Plug the ISDN-Controller FRITZ!Card PCI into the slot,
connector strip first, until the card is positioned firmly.
• Screw the ISDN-Controller tightly to the top end of the slot.
• Close the computer, screw the housing back together, and
plug the power cable back into the socket.
• Take the ISDN cable supplied with the card, which is equipped
with identical plugs on both ends. Plug one end into the
socket on the ISDN-Controller .
• Plug the other end of the ISDN cable into the ISDN socket.
Turn your computer back on to install the software components
of FRITZ!Card PCI. See sections 2.4 and 2.5.
The most important software components for FRITZ!Card PCI are
installed using a joint installation program. Only the first part of
the installation procedures for Windows 98, 95 and NT differ:
the installation of the driver software for the ISDN-Controller
FRITZ!Card PCI is specific to the operating system. The installation
sequence for the remaining software components, the FRITZ!
communications software and the AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver, is
the same for all three operating systems.
For this reason, first read the section describing the installation
of the driver software in your operating system. Then skip to
section 2.5.
