    2 Installing FRITZ!Card PCI FRITZ!C NSTALLING FRITZ!Card PCI can be installed in Windows 98, Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 (Workstation i386).     2 Installing FRITZ!Card PCI 2.2 What is Installed? Firs s s s s t t t t t the ISDN-Controller FRITZ!Card PCI is physically installed in your computer and connected to ISDN. Then the most important software components of FRITZ!Card PCI are installed with a joint installation program.

    Windows 98, 95 and NT differ: the installation of the driver software for the ISDN-Controller FRITZ!Card PCI is specific to the operating system. The installation sequence for the remaining software components, the FRITZ! communications software and the AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver, is the same for all three operating systems.
  • Page 10 Windows 98 provides a Wizard for the ISDN configuration. This Wizard can configure only a previously installed NDIS WAN CAPI Driver (one of the AVM system drivers). This Wizard can not not be used to install ISDN hardware and software correctly or to configure an ISDN connection.
  • Page 11 ISDN line (DSS1, NI-1 or 5ESS Custom). As a final step of the driver software installation, an information window with the settings of the ISDN-Controller FRITZ!Card PCI is displayed. Upon completion, a message appears reporting that the FRITZ! communications software can be installed.

  • Page 21 Additional drivers must be linked to the operating system before this protocol can be used with the ISDN- Controller. AVM provides the AVM ISDN CAPI Port Driver and the NDIS WAN CAPI Driver for this purpose. Thanks to these drivers, TCP/IP can be used through CAPI.

    4 ISDN and Internet with FRITZ!Card 4 ISDN FRITZ!C NTERNET WITH FRITZ!Card opens up the entire world of communication for the user: data transfer, fax transmission, surfing the Internet and much more. FRITZ!Card grants you the freedom of connectivity: not only can you connect to remote parties with an ISDN connec- tion, but communicate over analog connections as well.

    Once the FRITZ!Card installation is complete, the CAPI 2.0 appli- cation is ready for operation in your system. This is the basis for the modules of the AVM FRITZ! communications package located in the “FRITZ!” folder under “Start /Programs”. FRITZ! makes accessible such ISDN services as data transfer, faxing and tele- phony.
  • Page 24 (“Start / Settings / Control Panel / Modems”. Using these modems you can use such terminal programs as Hyper- terminal and the “AVM ISDN Mailbox (X.75)” to connect to ISDN BBSs. The “AVM ISDN Analog Modem (V.32bis)” modem can be used for connections to analog remote par- ties.
  • Page 25 TAPI 2.1 can be implemented with the ISDN-Controller FRITZ!Card. The special advantage of the AVM system drivers is that the entire range of CAPI functions continues to be supported. This means that not only special ISDN applications like FRITZ!, but also the system drivers can work simultaneously in send and receive modes on both ISDN B channels.

    FRITZ!Card in a different PCI slot. • The system was unable to assign an interrupt (IRQ) to the ISDN-Controller FRITZ!Card PCI. This may be due to other PCI components or incorrect settings in the BIOS of your computer.
