EFW Architectural Components and Concepts

EFW consists of the following major architectural components and concepts:

discussed in the following subsections.

EFW Management Console
The EFW Management Console is the administrative interface to the Policy Server.
Administrators configure the system and view data using the Management Console.
You can protect the Management Console machine or server machine or both with an
EFW device. The Management Console can be installed and run on the same machine as
a Policy Server, or remotely on a different machine.
NOTE: While you are not required to protect the Management Console machine
with an EFW NIC, it is recommended to protect against attacks.
