    General Safety Work Area • Make sure you thoroughly inspect the entire work area and remove all objects and anything that could be thrown by the machine or could damage the engine or machine (branches, stones, wire, toys, etc). Attempting to clear the work area whilst using the machine will reduce your concentration and creates a trip hazard.

    For Safe Operation During Use • Always hold the unit with both hands when operating. Keep a firm grip on the handlebars. Be aware that the machine may unexpectedly bounce upward or jump forward if the machine should strike buried obstacles such as large rocks or roots. •...

These vibrations can lead to white finger (Raynaud’s phenomenon) or carpal tunnel syndrome. This condition reduces the ability of the hand to feel and regulate temperature, causing numbness and heat sensations and may cause nerve damage and circulatory tissue death.

    Machine Description And Scope Of Application The HYSC210 is a petrol lawn scarifier from Hyundai, ideally suited for small to medium sized lawns. The HYSC210 has a working width of 400mm and is powered by a 212cc 4-stroke OHV petrol engine.

    Assembly Safety Assembly Safety CAUTION - This guide is meant to serve as a quick reference for operating your HYUNDAI machine. We always advise reading the manual in full before operation. CAUTION - For OUTDOOR use ONLY. Petrol machines produce carbon monoxide – poisonous, colourless and odourless gas that can cause serious injury or death.

    Assembly Unboxing & Assembly Video: Go to youtube.com and type in Hyundai HYSC210 assembly. YOU MUST read and understand the instruction manual first. Step 1 : Assemble Handle Bars Attach the lower handle to the mounting bracket on the scarifier deck by sliding the bolt through the lower handle bar and through one of the 2 different handlebar height holes on the mounting bracket.

    Assembly Step 2 : Attach Grass Collector Lift the rear discharge flap and hook the grass catcher over the back of the scarifier. See image 1. Manoeuvre the grass collector into position ensuring it is hooked firmly in place . See image 2.

  • Page 28 Assembly Step 4 : Cable Attachment NOTE - If you are stood behind the machine: OPC Cable: This attaches to the lever in front of the main handlebar and if followed, will attach to the engine. Gently prise the lever from its locating hole in the main handlebar. See image 1. Insert the end of the cable in to the hole in the lever.

    Preparation Before Each Use • Always ensure that the scarifier is in a safe working condition. Inspect the machine, check safety devices and guards and check all nuts, bolts and screws are secure. • Check the oil level. • Fill the fuel tank with unleaded petrol. •...

    Preparation Adding Oil Oil Type : SAE 30 or 15w40 Engine Oil Oil Capacity : 600ml NOTE - The machine is delivered without oil in the engine. All machines are tested and inspected so there may be some residual oil left in the machine so please fill with caution. Remove the oil filler cap.

    Preparation Adding Fuel Make sure you read the fuel safety before handling fuel. Fuel Type : Fresh Straight Unleaded Petrol Fuel Capacity : 3.6L NOTE - The machine is delivered without petrol. All machines are tested and inspected so there may be some residual petrol left in the machine so please fill with caution.

    Starting Procedure YOU MUST read and understand the full safety instruction manual before starting the machine. Cold Start Turn the engine switch to the ON position. See image 1. Move the fuel tap to the ON position. (Bottom lever to the right). See image 2. Image 1 Image 2 Move the choke lever to the START position.
  • Page 33 Starting Procedure Gently pull the recoil starter handle until you feel resistance, then pull swiftly until the engine starts. See image 5. When engine starts, move the choke lever back to the RUN position . See image 6. Image 5 Image 6 Warm Start Repeat the cold start procedure but leave the choke in the ON position.
  • Page 34 Stopping Procedure Stopping Before stopping the machine, you must allow the engine to idle for 20 seconds. You do not need to do this if you need to emergency stop the engine. Release the Operator Presence Control (OPC) lever and the engine will stop. See image 1. Turn the engine switch to the OFF position.

    Operation Adjusting Working Depth CAUTION - Do not make any adjustment to the scarifier without stopping the engine first. The scarifier is equipped with a working depth adjustment lever offering multiple working depths. To adjust the working depth, first stop the machine and switch the engine off. Turn the working depth adjustment knob anti-clockwise to lower the blade or clockwise to raise the blade.

    Maintenance & Care Maintenance Safety 1. WARNING - Before cleaning or doing maintenance work, you need to disconnect the spark plug cable and read the relevant instructions. You need to wear proper clothing and protective gloves whenever your hands are at risk. 2.

    Maintenance & Care Routine Maintenance IMPORTANT - Routine and accurate maintenance is essential for maintaining original machine safety and performance levels. Always stop the engine and unplug the spark plug before doing any repairs or maintenance. Only use original spare parts: The use of non-original and/or incorrectly fitted parts will jeopardize the safety of the machine, may cause accidents or personal injuries for which the Manufacturer is under no circumstance liable or responsible.

    Maintenance & Care Spark Plug You MUST allow the engine to cool down before carrying out any maintenance. Always replace with the same model spark plug as fitted. Remove the spark plug HT lead cap. Undo the spark plug from the engine and remove. Visually inspect the spark plug for signs of damage, wear or carbon build up.

    Maintenance & Care Air Filter CAUTION - A dirty air filter will restrict the air flow to the carburettor, which will reduce engine efficiency. When using the machine in very dusty areas you must clean or replace the air filter more often. Never operate the machine without the air filter being fitted it can cause damage to the engine which is not covered by warranty.

    Maintenance & Care Fuel & Carburetor CAUTION - ALL FUELS ARE FLAMMABLE. Always fuel and defuel in a well-ventilated area outside of buildings. Always wear correct PPE and wipe up and spills immediately. The use of old or stale petrol will impair the starting and running of the machine. Make sure that the machine has fresh unleaded petrol and always remove the fuel before storing for long periods of time.

    Maintenance & Care Blade Removal CAUTION - Drain the machine of fuel before removing or replacing the blade. ALWAYS fuel and defuel in a well ventilated area outside of buildings.     Maintenance & Care Check Belt Tightness Using a 6mm hexagonal key, undo the bolt at the top of the belt guard. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the two screws at the bottom of the belt guard. Check belt tension (arrowed). There should be 10-15mm of movement. To tighten belt, loosen the centre pulley bolt and push pulley towards the front of the scarifier to take up slack and re-tighten centre bolt.
