3.3.1 Installation of the guide wire
The position of the charging station and
where the guide wire is connected along
the boundary wire has an impact on how
long the guide loop will be. See 1.9 Guide
wire on page 14.
Make the guide loop as short as
possible. If the guide loop is longer than
400 meters it may be hard for the mower
to follow the wire.
The illustrations show how a guide loop
can look. The top illustration is also a
good example of a good charging station
position that results in the shortest
possible guide loop.
The robotic lawnmower follows the guide
wire on the same side of the wire to and
from the charging station. This means
that the guide wire is to the right of the
mower when the mower travels to the
charging station while it is to the left of
the mower when the mower travels away
from the station.
In passages, the guide wire must be
placed so that the mower has enough
space to operate in. The distance
between the boundary wire and the guide
wire must however be at least 30 cm.
The same shortest distance (30 cm) also
applies to the distance between the guide
wire and the guide wire in the passage
if the guide wire is laid back and forth
through the passage, or double guide
wires are used.
