EMCOMMS Series Meter
Installation Instructions
APPLICATIONS
The EMCOMMS Series Meter is a three channel meter, capable
of monitoring single-phase, poly-phase and three-phase
systems, or up to three independent single-phase loads with
mixed amperage and voltage ratings. The meter supports
BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU and Modbus ASCII protocols. The
meter also features 2 pulse inputs to maintain flexibility during
installation and operation. With the EMCOMMS intelligent
meter technology, the device self-configures baud rate,
serial format, protocol, and address - eliminating additional
configuration steps.
The EMCOMMS meter is compatible with all sizes of ROG Series
Current/Voltage Transducers (CVTs). Each CVT is independently
calibrated to measure and digitally communicate power values
to the meter. The system voltage connections are made directly
into each CVT - keeping all high voltage in the panel and away
from the meter. Additionally, each CVT will auto-configure to the
meter as they are plugged in, removing manual configuration
from the installation.

WARNING:
This equipment must only be installed and serviced by qualified electrical
personnel having the skills and knowledge related to the construction and
operation of this electrical equipment and installation, and has received safety
training to recognize and avoid the hazards involved. NEC Article 100. Current/
Voltage Transducers must be mounted inside a suitable fire and electrical
enclosure. Do not use this product for life or safety applications. Do not install
in hazardous or classified locations. Use a properly rated voltage sensing
device to confirm that power is off. DO NOT depend on this product for voltage
indication. Contact with components carrying hazardous voltage can cause
electric shock and may result in severe personal injury or death. Do not operate
this device at voltages exceeding specified working voltage to prevent device
failure, which can result in personal injury or property damage.
PRODUCT LIMITATION:
The EMCOMMS Series Meter and ROG Series Current/Voltage Transducers
are designed to be used as a system. DO NOT connect anything other than a
Johnson Controls ROG Series CVT to the RJ-11 jacks on the EMCOMMS meter.
INSTALLATION ENVIRONMENT:
The EMCOMMS Series Meter is intended for environments which control
conductive pollution and the possibility of condensation or high humidity
(Pollution level 2). High voltage components shall be mounted in an appropriate
electrical enclosure. The EMCOMMS meter is a class 2 device.
ROG Series Current/Voltage Transducers (CVTs) may not be installed in a panel
where they exceed 75% of the wiring space of any cross-sectional area within
the panel. Meter shall be enclosed in a certified enclosure.
