condensation occurs, turn off the unit and wait until the
condensation clears before operating the unit. Operating
the unit while condensation is present may damage the
unit.
Consumable parts
The fan is a consumable part that will need periodic
replacement.
When operating at room temperature, a normal
replacement cycle will be about 5 years.
However, this replacement cycle represents only a
general guideline and does not imply that the life
expectancy of this part is guaranteed. For details on parts
replacement, contact your dealer.

Depending on the operating environment, unauthorized
third parties on the network may be able to access the
unit. When connecting the unit to the network, be sure
to confirm that the network is protected securely.
Cautions for RESPONSIBLE ORGANIZATION
when connecting this equipment to IT-
NETWORK
 connection of the PEMS to an IT-NETWORK that
includes other equipment could result in previously
unidentified RISKS to PATIENTS, OPERATORS or
third parties;
 the RESPONSIBLE ORGANIZATION should
identify, analyze, evaluate and control these RISKS;
 subsequent changes to the IT-NETWORK could
introduce new RISKS and require additional analysis;
and
 changes to the IT-NETWORK include:
changes in the IT-NETWORK configuration;
connection of additional items to the IT-
NETWORK;
disconnecting items from the IT-NETWORK;
update of equipment connected to the IT-
NETWORK; and
upgrade of equipment connected to the IT-
NETWORK.
Inspection before operation
Before operation, check that there are no errors
indicated by the SYSTEM indicator or on the monitor
output screen. If there are any errors, restart the unit.
If the problem persists, follow the instructions for
resolving the issue in "Errors" (page 26) and
"Troubleshooting" (page 27).
System operation checks
Make sure that the optical network cable is connected
before turning the unit on. If the optical network cable is
connected or reconnected while the unit is running, the
sync signal may unsync and images may become
distorted. In such cases, restart the unit.
When starting system operation, turn on the network
switch first and verify that it has started before turning
on the unit.
If you do not turn on the network switch first, the sync
signal may be off and images may be distorted. In such
cases, restart the unit.
Notes on video output
Images may be distorted for approximately 20 seconds
after the unit is turned on or immediately after video
input to the sender side starts. Do not use the unit if
doing so will hinder the medical procedure.
Use a Sony medical monitor for the connected
monitor.
Images may be distorted for approximately 40 seconds
immediately after video input to the sender side starts
when using monitors from other manufacturers.
About 4K video output
The 4K video output of this device is in 4:2:0 YCbCr 8-
bit format.
4K images sent in 4:2:2 10-bit format from an NU-IP40S
will suffer a degradation in image quality for a number
of colors.
Do not use for medical care activities.
