7.2 Board Battery Maintenance

It is recommended that the batteries in the PowerCPU EE boards should be replaced by batteries of
the same type every two years. Dead batteries must be disposed of according to the battery
manufacturer's instructions.

7.3 Maintenance of Ventilation System

At the same time as replacing the batteries, clean the system ventilation holes using a brush or a lint-
free cloth.
When a fan fails, only the T0/T2 external digital accesses and the first two interfaces of the digital
stations remain operational.

7.4 Replacing the CPU Board

When a CPU is faulty, a spare CPU with same traffic capacity has to be identified and the faulty CPU
isolated from the network (OmniSwitch configuration).
The DHCP configuration has to be updated to give the IP parameters of the faulty CPU to the new
CPU and the configuration save (done with the AST) restored to this new CPU (refer to section 13 for
restore restrictions).
Once the configuration restored, the CPU will be up and running and the telephony services again
available.
The license of the old CPU will be operational for 30 days but a new license has to be requested for the
new CPU ID.

7.5 Replacing the Chassis

If a failure on the master CPU or a hardware failure of the chassis leads to a dysfunction of all the CPU
of the chassis, the CPU is individually seen as faulty.
In that case, the procedure of single CPU replacement must be applied to all the faulty CPUs.

7.6 Adding and Replacing Interface Boards

This section describes how to add an interface board into a vacant slot in the system and how to
replace an existing board with a new one.
Note:
Always take anti-static precautions when handling boards. Before coming into direct physical contact with
a board, make sure you touch a grounded metal surface to remove static charge from your body. When
holding a board, always wear a grounding device such as a grounded wrist strap, and do not touch board
components that are sensitive to static charge.
Before attempting board installation/exchange, note the following system rules concerning the
detection of boards:
A detected board is considered to be PRESENT
A PRESENT board can be ACCEPTED or REFUSED, depending on the system dimensioning
criteria
