Appendix A. IBMSet: An Overview

When you install the Netfinity 10/100 Ethernet Adapter Windows drivers, an
advanced configuration utility called IBMSet is also installed. If you are running
Windows NT, Windows 95, or Windows 98, you can easily test hardware and set
standard and advanced adapter features with IBMSet.
IBMSet runs when you click on the Adapter Icon at the lower right hand corner of
the Windows task bar or when you highlight an adapter and click Properties in the
Network control panel.
From the IBMSet panel as shown in Figure 4, you can view the following
information:
v View adapter parameters such as MAC Address and IP Address
v View Network Link status such as speed, duplex mode, and activity
v Check the device driver level used for the adapter
v Obtain IBM Web support information

Note about Adapter DOS Diagnostics

Besides the Adapter Hardware Test feature available with IBMSet, you can also run
adapter diagnostics from DOS with SETUP.EXE. With the CD-ROM or driver
diskette in the drive, from a DOS prompt enter setup.
