Remote Management Module Installation and Maintenance Practice

INSTALLATION

Inspect the Remote Management Module. If damaged, file a claim with the carrier then contact
ADTRAN Customer Service. Refer to
possible, keep the original shipping container for returning the Remote Management Module
for repair or for verification of shipping damage.
Electronic modules can be damaged by ESD. When handling mod-
ules, wear an antistatic discharge wrist strap to prevent damage to
electronic components. Place modules in antistatic packing mate-
rial when transporting or storing. When working on modules,
always place them on an approved antistatic mat that is electrically
grounded.
The RMM plugs directly into the Total Access 3000 (23-inch) shelf or the Total Access 3010
(19-inch) shelf. Both are rack mounted chassis, with 28 access module slots on the Total
Access 3000 and 22 access module slots on the Total Access 3010. Each access module
contains the interfaces and appropriate circuitry to interface with the local loop.
