- Page 4 Smooth the sides of the grating piece with sandpaper. Cut lengths of 2 x 3mm wooden strip and glue to the sides of the grating piece. Smooth the surface of the grating and slightly round the corners on one side. Apply glue to the grating and place onto the quarterdeck, between the other two gratings, as shown.
