Connecting the router to the network
Logging in to the router
Logging in through the console port is the most common way to log in to a router. It is also the
prerequisite to configuring other login methods.
Connecting the console cable
Introduction
A console cable is an 8-core shielded cable, with a crimped RJ-45 connector at one end for connecting
to the console port of the router, and a DB-9 female connector at the other end for connecting to the serial
port on the console terminal.
