Information regarding the surface treatment

Once set-up is complete, the surface of the cladding can
be treated in different ways:
- Smoothing and painting
- Plastering with fine lime plaster (approx. 3mm thick) and
painting
- Plastering with lime plaster (approx. 10mm thick)
- Application of tiles and natural stone
The choice of surface treatment dictates the plaster frame
that needs to be used.
If you select the "Smoothing and painting" option, we rec-
ommend that you file approx. 5x45° bevels at the joints of
cladding panels Pos.3-8 to allow the cladding panels to
be sealed one below the other. Smoothing also involves
patching up any unevenness and the screw heads using
putty (fine lime plaster).
If the stove is not installed flush with the wall, insulation
boards Pos.1+2 always have to be primed prior to any ad-
ditional surface treatment. Since the insulation boards
cannot be painted directly, these surfaces must be plas-
tered first.

Gluing

The individual panels of the cladding are always glued and
screwed into place. All adhesive surfaces should be mois-
tened prior to application. Use only the included adhesive
for gluing the panels into place. To prevent a height offset
between the individual panels, the adhesive must be ap-
plied evenly as a bead with a thickness of approx. 1mm.
Important: Applying the adhesive too thick will affect the
angularity and fitting accuracy of the cladding.
When positioning the panels, make sure the surfaces are
aligned flush with one another. Observing these require-
ments is of particular importance in connection with the
surface treatment "Smoothing and painting".
Since quickly becoming dry on the surface, the adhesive
should only be applied to one panel at a time. You should,
furthermore, glue and screw the panels into place quickly.
You should also allow the adhesive to cure completely for
24 hours and heat up the appliance slowly.

Screwing

The cladding panels may only be screwed into place by
hand. If using a cordless screwdriver, select a low level of
torque.

Priming

Primer needs to be applied only if at least one of the in-
sulation panels Pos. 1 / 2 is not supposed to be installed
flush with the wall and the surface will later become a vis-
ible surface.

Plaster frame

Depending on whether you opt for fine lime plaster or
lime plaster (or tiles), you can choose from different plaster
frames that are designed for a layer thickness of 3mm (fine
lime plaster) or 10mm (lime plaster or tiles).

Fine lime plaster

The fine lime plaster is applied to the primed insulation
board(s) and/or the untreated cladding and creates a
smooth, bright and firm surface. The fine lime plaster is ap-
plied in thin coats using a smoothing trowel in usually 2-3
passes. All plaster surfaces should be moistened prior to
application. We recommend that you incorporate woven
glass scrims into the first layer of plaster at the joints or cor-
ners of the panels and as a general reinforcement of the
plaster.
Another option is to sand the surface after the plaster has
dried completely. The surface serves as the base for the
subsequence coats of paint.

Paints

The only paints that may be used are mineral paints.

Lime plaster

Lime plaster is applied to the previously primed and dried
surface of the insulation boards and/or the untreated clad-
ding panels. The grain diameter is 0–1.2mm. The thick-
ness of the plaster is approx. 10mm (permissible minimum
thickness 5mm, limited to specific places). All plaster sur-
faces should be moistened prior to application.
If operating with two applications, the second layer must
be applied a day later from the first, and the undercoat
must be prepared accordingly for the finishing coat. We
recommend that you incorporate woven glass scrims into
the first layer of plaster at the joints or corners of the pan-
els and as a general reinforcement of the plaster.

Adhesive

A bag of adhesive with a quantity that is sufficient to com-
plete installation is included with the cladding. If you de-
cide to expand the cladding later on, you need to use the
same original adhesive for these add-ons as well.
Thoroughly knead the bag of adhesive prior to use.
You need to make sure that no skin forms on top of the
adhesive.
Processing temperature: +10°C to +25°C
Storage: frost-free
