Preparing The Tiller

CAUTION - Do not make any adjustment
to the machine without stopping the engine
first.

Engine Oil

!
CAUTION!
Running the engine with low oil level will cause
serious engine damage.
!
CAUTION!
Using non-detergent oil or 2-stroke engine oil
could shorten the engine's service life.
SAE30 or 15w40 oil is recommended for
general, all temperature use.
STEP 1
Remove the oil filler cap and wipe the
dipstick clean.
STEP 2
Refit the dipstick without screwing it down.
Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. It
should be to the upper mark on the dipstick.
STEP 3
If the level is low, fill with SAE30 or 15w40
engine oil to the middle of the dipstick. DO
NOT overfill.
STEP 4
Once the correct amount of oil has been
added, refit the dipstick securely.

Fuel

Use straight unleaded petrol. Never use an oil/
petrol mixture or dirty petrol. Avoid dirt, dust
or water from getting into the fuel tank.

CAUTION! Do not overfill the fuel tank
(there should be no fuel in the filler neck).
CAUTION! ALL FUELS ARE FLAMMABLE
Always fuel and de-fuel in a well ventilated area
away from sources of ignition.
!
WARNING! Petrol is extremely flammable
and is explosive under certain conditions.
Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine
stopped. Do not smoke or allow flames or
sparks in the area where the engine is
refuelled or the petrol is stored.
STEP 1
Remove the fuel filler cap. Fill the fuel tank
with fresh straight unleaded petrol. Allow a
25mm gap from the top of the tank. DO NOT
mix petrol with oil.
STEP 2
After refuelling, make sure the tank cap is
closed properly and securely. Be careful not
to spill fuel when refuelling. Spilled fuel or fuel
vapour may be ignited. If any fuel is spilled,
make sure the area is dry before starting the
engine. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact
with skin or breathing of vapour.
