Messages
New incoming e-mails are always copied to the P900.
Incoming e-mails deleted on the P900 will be deleted from the POP server during the next 'Get&Send'.
Incoming e-mails deleted on the POP server by another e-mail client, e.g. on the user's PC, will be
deleted from the P900 during the next 'Get&Send'.
Outgoing e-mails are stored in the P900 and will need to be deleted, as required, to free up storage space.
E-Mail account accessed by the P900 and another device
A common configuration is to use the P900 to access e-mail whilst on the move, but to maintain a master
copy of e-mail on a PC. In this case, the e-mail client on the PC must be set to copy from the server. For
example, in Microsoft Outlook Express this is done by selecting Tools, Accounts, Properties, Advanced tab
and tick 'Leave a copy of messages on server'
All messages will now be received at both the P900 and the PC.
From time to time it will be necessary to delete messages on the P900 in order to create free storage. Before
doing this, ensure that the PC has already collected the messages that will be deleted on the P900.
E-Mail account accessed by the P900 and another device – Alternative Setup
If the P900 is only used for reading mail when away from the PC and it is not required to retain any mail on
the P900 after it has been copied to the PC then the following alternative may be preferred.
Leave the PC e-mail client on the default setting of MOVE messages from the server (i.e. do not leave a
copy of the message on the server). In this case, the behaviour will be as follows:
PC Sends and receives e-mail before leaving the office.
P900 inbox will be emptied if 'Get&Send' is performed immediately after the PC has checked for
e-mails.
New messages through the day will be received on the P900.
Upon return to the office, a Send and Receive on the PC will collect the day's messages, minus any
that were deleted on the P900. A 'Get&Send' is then performed on the P900 to empty its inbox.

Area Information

Area Information, commonly known as SMS Cell Broadcast, is a method of sending text messages to mobile
phones within a certain part of the network. For example, traffic news can be sent to users in a single cell or
a group of cells. It is not widely deployed by network operators.
Information is organized into numbered channels. The user selects the required channels in the P900
Control Panel, Messaging Accounts, CBS tab. The requested text messages are received and placed in the
'Area info' mailbox.
Cell Information may be switched on and off in the Control Panel. When enabled and supported by the
network, the ID of the current cell (or group of cells) will be displayed underneath the network operator name
in the FC phone display. This is often the telephone area code or postal code of the current location.
