P900 New Features in Detail
P900/P908 White Paper, December 2003
Music player
The audio player has been redesigned to become an
MP3 Music Player application. Two additional file
types can be played (RMF and iMelody), but the
preferred audio file type is MP3.
The Music Player user interface now displays track
title, artist name, and album title taken from the MP3
file's ID3 tag.
A 'Manage Tracks' option allows tracks to be copied,
moved, deleted, and ID3 information may be viewed.
File Manager application
There is a new file handling application, File
Manager, which makes it possible to browse the
MMFH structure of the internal storage as well as the
Memory Stick storage space. File management
operations may be carried out such as Copy, Move,
Rename, View properties, Send via MMS (or
Bluetooth/Infrared), Change file attributes.
A selected file may also be opened in the appropriate
viewer with a simple tap.
Folders are also managed through File Manager, i.e.
they may be Created, Deleted, Renamed, Properties
viewed, and Attributes changed.
Upgraded user interface
Improvements have been made in many areas of the phone's operations. The more significant additions are
outlined below.
Personalization
User may select, and customize, different Themes that change the whole appearance of the user interface
and ring tones in one action. New themes may be downloaded - saving time and effort compared to
downloading individual ring tones, screen savers, etc. However, individual items may still be personalized as
before. MP3 files may now be used as ring tones.
T9 Predictive text input
The user has the choice of standard multitap text input or T9 predictive text. T9 text entry works by
comparing sequences of key presses to a stored database of possible words, and provides significant
improvements in the speed and ease of use.
