P900 New Features in Detail
Jog Dial
The Jog Dial action in flip open mode has been revised for better single-handed operations. In addition,
using the stylus in one hand while operating the Jog Dial with the other creates a powerful combination.
Previously (P800), pushing the Jog Dial towards or away resulted in a move from the current application to
the application launcher. In the P900, all Jog Dial actions work within an application until a long push
towards the front of the P900 is carried out. This summary list shows the basic operations:
Rotate up
Rotate down
Press inwards
Press backwards
Press forwards
MMS
After taking a still picture or a video clip the Send as MMS option becomes active. When this is selected the
Multimedia messaging application is automatically opened and the picture or video clip is automatically
added ready for sending as an MMS message.
Video may now be inserted in to MMS messages. This may be video recorded with the built-in
CommuniCorder, or video downloaded to the P900 from elsewhere. The P900 can also view MMS
messages that contain video or streamed video.
By default, an MMS message is viewed in full screen view; the whole of the screen is used while maintaining
the aspect ratio. The user may change the default setting to play received and preview composed messages
in message edit view, i.e. with access to for instance menus and play and stop buttons.
The MMS application has new Smart templates. These allow faster creation of messages, by automatically
launching the CommuniCorder, Sound recorder or Image editor for content acquisition.
Bluetooth transfers
P800 uses the OPP (Object Push Profile) method for transfer of files between devices, and while the P800
can exchange any type of item using this method, other devices may not. Typically, other devices may be
restricted to exchanging only vCards by OPP. The P900 has, in addition to OPP, the FTP method of
transfer, which opens up wider possibilities. Personal Computers and PDA devices often support the
Bluetooth FTP transfer method.
Corporate Telephony
The P900 may be used as a replacement for the traditional office desk telephone or DECT telephone.
