SAFETY PROCEDURES The PowerAssist must not be used solely by the wheelchair user under any circumstances. • Ensure the PowerAssist is installed as far to the rear of the wheelchair as is comfortable for the attendant to do so. • When connecting / disconnecting the battery from the motor or the charger make sure both the power to the charger and PowerAssist handle control are switched off.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. HANDLE INSTALLATION a. Loosen both knobs on the handset. b. Squeeze the crocodile clip on the handset and apply to the push handle as shown. c. Secure the clip by turning the outer knob clockwise. d. Tilt the handset to the required angle then tighten the inner knob clockwise to secure.

4. BATTERY INSTALLATION Place the battery pack in to the battery bracket as shown in the photograph. 5. FINAL CONNECTION a. Connect the cable from the powerpack in to the underneath of the handset. Place the top loop of the lift-up strap around the opposite push handle to the handset.

OPERATING THE POWERASSIST • Lift-up strap. The PowerAssist comes with a lift-up strap to allow the wheelchair to move when there is no power. Lift up the PowerAssist with the red strap and hook the second loop around the push handle. Please note that failure to lift up the PowerAssist when reversing may cause the pack to flip over.

Trigger – Squeeze the trigger to propel the PowerAssist. The more the trigger is squeezed, the faster the PowerAssist will travel. Release the trigger to stop the PowerAssist Speed Dial – Turn the dial clockwise to increase the maximum speed of the PowerAssist. Turn the dial anticlockwise to reduce the PowerAssist’s maximum speed.
BATTERY CHARGING AND CARE Follow the procedure below step by step: Turn the power switch to (OFF) Lift out the battery pack using the handle on the pack. Plug the charger’s power cord into the mains. Plug the charger’s round plug into the charging socket of the battery pack Switch on the plug socket.

TROUBLESHOOTING Wheelchair does not move when trigger is pressed Possible Solutions: ● Check the PowerAssist is switched on ● Check the battery is fully charged. ● Check the connection between the battery and motor is correct. ● Check the wheelchair brakes are not applied. ●...
