SBA213 * Cover illustration may show optional equipment not supplied with standard unit BRILLION’S Soil Builder II is the latest in its line of Soil Builder coulter chilsel tools designed with conservation tillage at its forefront. It features larger cutting clouters, heavier shanks, greater trash clearance the stronger frames to handle today’s heavier residue conditions and higher horsepower tractors.
Description of Unit: The BRILLION SOIL BUILDER II was designed as a primary tillage tool that will work in harmony with an emphasis on conservation. Following the earlier Soil Builder and Super Soil Builder, the SOIL BUILDER II was developed to help convert from the moldboard plow to a conservation tillage system.
• Examine safety decals and be sure you have the correct safety decals for the machine. See Safety Sign and Locations in Safety Section for decal locations. • Order replacement decals through your Brillion dealer. • Keep these signs clean so they can be observed. It is important to keep these decals cleaned more frequently than the machine.

Safety Important Safety Information Maintenance Safety * Block machine so it will not roll when working on or under it to prevent injury in case of hydraulic failure or inadvertent lowering by another person. * Do not make adjustments or lubricate machine while it is in motion. * Make sure all moving parts have stopped and all system pressure is relieved.
* Use a chain with a strength rating equal to or greater than the gross weight of towed machinery. The chain we have included as standard with your Soil Builder II is rated at 20,200 pounds, which meets with ASAE S338.2 specifications, and will also allow you to pull another machine in tandem.

Operation Operation The Brillion Soil Builder should be inspected prior to operation to be sure that it is in good operating condition. Make sure there are no leaks in the hydraulic lines and that all nuts and bolts are tight.
• TRANSPORTING THE SOIL BUILDER II - THE TRANSPORT LOCK & ACTUATOR If the Soil Builder II is to be transported a long distance, or if you need to work on the machine, lock the machine in place. Extend the 3-1/2 x 16 cylinder and move the actuator handle to its lower position.
Operation Operation • FIELD POSITION - OPERATING THE SOIL BUILDER II During operation, place the actuator handle in the upper position of the guide. Remove the lock pins and locking angle, retract the 3-1/2 x 16 cylinder to raise the transport wheels and lower the machine.
Operation Operation SHANK ADJUSTMENT OPERATING DEPTH • DEPTH ADJUSTMENT - SHANKS The depth of operation is controlled with the actuator crank mechanism of the actuator. The scale located on the frame next to the actuator may be used as a depth guide. One turn of the crank will adjust the operating depth approximately 5/8”-3/4”.
Operation Operation • MACHINE LEVELING Adjust turnbuckle to level frame when shanks are she to desired working depth. • DEPTH ADJUSTMENT - COUTLTERS Set the coulters to the desired depth by using stroke control segments on the two 3 x 8 cylinders attached to the coulter gangs.
