GETTING STARTED Thank you for purchasing Hunter Douglas Duette and Applause Honeycomb Shades. With ® ® proper installation, operation, and care, your new shade(s) will provide years of beauty and performance. Please thoroughly review this instruction booklet and the enclosed packing list before beginning the installation.
INSTALLATION Installation Overview Your order will include four specialty brackets per shade. ■ ■ Specialty Bracket Specialty brackets are required for both the headrail and the bottom rail. They are ■ ■ mounted at the top and bottom of the window opening. Mounting Types and Window Terminology If the specialty brackets are mounted correctly, the rest of the installation process follows easily.

INSTALLATION Mark the screw holes. ■ ■ Carefully remove the templates from the mounting surfaces. ■ ■ Drill the screw holes using a ⁄ " drill bit. ■ ■ Attach the specialty brackets using the screws provided. ■ ■ IMPORTANT: The specialty brackets should be aligned and level with each other. INSTALLATION If using spacer blocks with specialty brackets, attach the spacer block(s) and specialty ■ ■ bracket to a flat vertical mounting surface with #6 mounting screws long enough for a secure installation. CAUTION: The rear spacer block must be flush against a flat mounting surface. Do not mount spacer blocks and specialty brackets on curved molding.

INSTALLATION Check the Tension (For Operable Shades Only) Slowly push down on the top moving rail handle a few inches. Allow the fabric to stack ■ ■ evenly, then stop. The top moving rail should remain steady and should not sag down. Slowly push up on the bottom moving rail handle a few inches.

OPERATION Troubleshooting Problem The shade will not snap into the mounting brackets. Solution Check that the specialty brackets are level and aligned. Shim the specialty brackets to level the headrail, if necessary. Be sure the heads of the screws are flush against the specialty bracket. Check that the headrail is completely inserted into the specialty brackets.
