5.Device Installation

5.1 Disk Installation
Note
By default, the VCN520 or VCN540 does not carry disks when being delivered. First install disks
and then install the device on the desktop, or in a cabinet.
After the VCN520 or VCN540 is delivered to the site, disk filler panels are installed in slots where
disks are not installed, by default. You are not advised to remove the filler panels from the slots
where disks are not installed, because removing the filler panels will affect the heat dissipation of
fans and generate some noises.
1 Use a screwdriver to fasten the new hard disk onto the front panel, as shown in step 1 and step 2 in
the following figure.
2 Push the hard disk into the slot along the disk guide rail until the hard disk locks into the place, as
shown in step 3 in the following figure.

Lower the ejector lever to ensure that the hard disk is completely in the subrack, as shown in step 4
in the following figure.
Note: Before closing the disk ejector level, ensure that the disk has been pushed into the subrack and
cannot be moved. Otherwise, after the ejector level is closed, the disk cannot be completely
pushed into the subrack, resulting in incorrect disk installation.

5.2 Desktop Installation

Stick and fix four bottom caps at the bottom of the device, as shown in the following figure.

Place the device horizontally on a desktop.
