Set·Up
In the ind icator mainframe, install t he 70 11 and
wide-band am plifier unit in the ve rtical plug-in compart-
me nts. Install the l ime·base unit in the B horizontal plug-in
compartment , Set the controls as follows :

Check Front-Panel Delay Interval Output
a Connect the marker output of the t ime-mark gener·
ator to the EX T TRI G IN connector.
b. Set the time-mark generator for one·microsecond
markers
c. Connect the DL Y INTER VAL OUT connector to the
amplifier ·unit input.
d . Set the amplifier uni t for a calibrated deflection
factor o f 0 .5 volt/division.
e. Set the mainframe to select the am plifier unit for
display and as the internal trigger sou rce for the time-base
unit.

Set the time·base unit fo r auto, internal triggering at
the sweep rate of 20 nanosecond/division,
g. Set the TRI GG ER LEVEL control to obtain a
display,
v h, CHECK - Displayed pulse amplitude is two divisions
or greater (delay interval pulse amplitude is one volt or
greater into SO-ohm load) .

j. Set the COUNT MODE switch to EVENTS. Connect a
4QO·miilivoh, iour-megahertz signal from the medium·
frequency signal generator to the EVENTS START T RIG

k. Set the DE LAY TI ME OR EVENTS control for an
events-count readout of 0000002,
I. Set
the time·base uni t for a sweep rate of 200
nanoseconds/division .
m. Set the EVENTS START T RI GGER LEVEL control
to obtain a pulse display ,
..In. CHECK- Displayed waveform for 5 di visions be·
tween the 50%·amplitude points on the rising and falling
portion (DLY INTERVA L OUT signal equal to generated
events delay within 30 nanoseconds; one microsecond ±30
nanoseconds) .
o . Set the amplifier-unit deflection factor to obtain a
display amplitude of five or six divisions.
p. Set the t ime,base unit to start the sweep prior to the
rising portion of the waveform at a sweep rate of two
nanoseconds/division.
..Jq. CHECK- Displayed waveform for not more than
2.5 divisions between the 10%· and 9O%-amplitude poi nts
(tisetime into 50 ohms, five nanoseconds or less) ,
