The specific polar pattern of the DM 20 means that nearly all sound is captured from the front of the microphone. The sides and rear of this microphone are less sensitive (as shown in the polar pattern graph in the Technical specifications section of this user manual.)

Therefore, placing a wedge monitor directly in front of the microphone, facing the vocalist, is not recommended. Because the DM 20 doesn't pick up much audio from the sides, it would be better to place one or two wedge monitors slightly to the left and/or right, facing the vocalist.

Using the switch The DM 20 is equipped with a practical ON/OFF switch and features a screw to adjust the switch tension. Usually, the switch tension setting is high, so it can not accidentally be turned off or on.
